Wild & Crazy: Adolescent
Six hour-long weekly sessions. At
about 7 months old, puppies usually change from sweet, agreeable little babies to teenaged
monsters. And this can last for two years! This program is aimed at those dogs who cannot think
when they're excited - jumping all over your guests, grabbing things and running off with them,
dragging you down the street, not listening, ignoring you when you call him, and other obnoxious
behaviors. The focus is on self-control here - we want these dogs to learn that they don't have to
react to everything that's going on by losing their minds. One month after the fifth session, I
come back and do a follow-up session to help with any problems you may still be having. This is our
core "Basics" program with more emphasis on attention and self-control for those dogs who need more
help "getting a grip". The program is customized to include your specific training issues. Includes
weekly review sheets and phone and email support if needed.
Six hour-long weekly sessions. This
program is specifically for dogs who cannot walk past other dogs without going crazy. Whether
this stems from fear or overeagerness, the problem is the same - an out-of-control dog at the end
of your leash, and the training plan is designed to teach you and your dog both tools to help him
learn to be calmer when he sees another dog. The first couple of weeks are about teaching the
tools, and then we start working with them - at first around stuffed dogs (they never bark at your
dog, and your dog will think they are real!), and then around live dogs. Our goal is not
necessarily to get your dog to go up and say hi; rather, it is to be able to take a walk around the
neighborhood more calmly and to get past other dogs without your dog becoming
Private Lessons - Tailored specifically for what you need!
If you have one or two specific issues that you need addressed, you might choose
to schedule one or more private lessons, where I will work with you and your dog on just those problems. Includes
an emailed recap of what we covered, and phone and email support if needed.
Carol is a very calm and reassuring trainer and the methods used
showed us the potential that was attainable with our dog. Having success with the methods used gave
us motivation to remain calm and see the light at the end of the training tunnel. A great positive
approach to training our dog without getting upset and frustrated.
